Jim, You should be able to run vmware and parallels on the Dell Mini 10v hackintosh. I would recommend you up the RAM to 2GB for this purpose.

Just discovering the idea of this – very cool idea, and I could use a second mac to drag around for myself. Can I use this to run parallels/vmware to get back to PC compatibility or am I better off just partitioning and dual-booting?

I haven’t upgraded the RAM on my Dell Mini 10v. I think any reputable branded RAM that works with the Dell Mini 10v should work fine with OS X.

Hey, man, great blog. I just ordered a mini 10v and was then told that I could hackintosh it, which is great. It doubles it’s value, I think, both monetarily and in utility. Anyway, one question, what RAM chip do you recommend to upgrade this puppy? Will the brand matter when it comes to OS X?

Roxanne, I haven’t any experience setting up a hackintosh notebook apart from my Dell Mini 10v. Hopefully, someone else may be able to offer you some help.

Hi, i´m trying to make a hackintosh based on a notebook pc, but considering something for graphic design purposes so a netbook won´t fit my needs. Do you know if the process that you used works with a regular size one, i´m considering Toshiba T13SP2910 (13.3″) or L515-SP4908 (14″ and reachs 8 Gb. ram). If you have any suggestions i will appreciate it, because there is not to much info about hackintosh notes. regars.

Another 10v Hackintosh (SnowLeopard) here. Got the nickelodeon version of the 10v, from the dell outlet, combined with an online coupon, shipped for $245! Add $30 for OSX, and good go to, under $300!

Not real happy with the trackpad, might have to add some tape to certain parts.

Not super happy with flash video playback (even youtube), so I’m considering bumping up to 2GB.

Hi Thomas,

The laptop in trademe is a HP laptop, not a Dell. I think Logic 9 Studios will run poorly on a Netbook. Netbook CPUs are not meant for heavy duty processing work. You’re better off getting an iMac for that kind of work.
